Statement of Purpose and Values

The primary goal of MAsT, Inc. is to provide a safe and welcoming
environment for all those who live in, pursue and/or support
consensual adult Master/slave relationships, to provide mutual
support and comity, and to share ideas, information, experiences and
feelings derived from their experiences with the Master/slave
dynamic.

While MAsT, Inc. believes that there are common elements inherent in
all Master/slave relationships, it recognizes that there is not a
universal consensus regarding either the practices or terminology of
M/s, and it accepts that there is a wide range of ways for
individuals to express and to describe their particular M/s
dynamic. We honor and celebrate our community's diversity. We
recognize that the boundaries of our community are often fluid and
that the use of varied titles within the community, including
"Master , ""Mistress" and "slave," are gender-neutral and do not
create or imply a hierarchy or power exchange outside of that within
a mutually agreed upon relationship.

MAsT, Inc. recognizes that the Master/slave dynamic is not bound by
race, national origin, language, gender identity, sexual
orientation/preference or religion. We reject any belief system that
excludes individuals from our community (or indeed from any life
option or opportunity), or that forces individuals into non-
consensual roles. Nevertheless, we also recognize that individual
MAsT chapters (particularly those meeting in private homes) may find
it more beneficial to focus or concentrate their membership to those
possessing specific personal traits, including those previously
mentioned. Therefore, while MAsT, Inc., as an international
organization, values and practices inclusivity, a MAsT chapter may
be focused provided that it recognizes the soundness of MAsT, Inc.'s
inclusivity, acknowledges the acceptability of those within MAsT who
possess personal traits different from those of the chapter's
members, and does not denigrate other MasT chapters that are not
identically or similarly exclusive.

MAsT, Inc. believes in "Ethical Ownership": that it is the
Master's responsibility and obligation to provide for the slave's
physical, mental, emotional, and, when applicable, spiritual well
being and to support the slave's continued intellectual, emotional
and, when applicable, spiritual growth.

MAsT, Inc. likewise believes in "Ethical Service": that the slave be
committed to his/her obedience and service in accordance with the
Master's will.

Finally, MAsT, Inc. believes that living within a Master/slave
dynamic can be an authentic expression of self and for some even be
their life's "calling." While the pursuit of such a life needs no
justification beyond the mutual satisfaction of the individuals
involved, we believe that, at its best, the Master/slave
dynamic can facilitate self-examination and thereby lead to greater
self-awareness, increased serenity and even enlightenment.
